MY INTERVIEW WITH RENE PLEIJZIER
What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?
R: Rene Pleijzier, I write erotica
Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?
R: “Encounters With A Stranger” contains 20 short hot stories and is book 1 in the “Pure Pleasure Series”. In our lifes, we meet a lot of strangers every day again. And sometimes you think “Mmmmmm I wish I could get a bit closer and make love to him or her.” And in my first book this really happens to the main characters.
How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (Erotica)?
R: Sex is an important part in a relationship. And many people love to read and fantasize about it. I decided to write my fantasy down and publish it, so many readers can also enjoy it.
What kind of research did you do for this book?
R: I am not an expert in BDSM, Subs and mistresses. So for two stories I needed help. A good friend knew a sub and she helped us a lot to make it realistic.
Can you tell me about your Series?
The “Pure Pleasure Series” is a series of books with 20 short erotic stories in each book.
Book 1 is: “Encounters with a Stranger” where total strangers meet another for the first time. These encounters will lead towards an hot adventure. 20 different encounters in one book.
Book 2 is: “Second Encounters”. Where the same characters meet again and spoil each other with beautiful hot passion. And knowing now what the other likes.
Book 3 is: “Make your wildest dreams cum true”. Total new characters will experience their deepest and wildest desires. Everybody has a desire of something they will like to experience in their sexlife. For example a special sextoy, or multiple lovers. In book 3 their dreams come true.
Do you have a favorite book out of this series?
Book 3 is my favorite, I am writing the stories at the moment with a female co-writer from Canada. Many people have a secret fantasy for their sexlife. Sometimes simple desires like sexy lingerie or a sextoy till as far as being a sub with bdsm. Writing book 3 is a real joy.
Where did you get the inspiration/idea for your series?
R: I think I have a naughty imagination. Everybody loves to fantasize about great sex-adventures. The difference is that I write them down and share them.
What kind of research did you do for this book?
R: For book 3 I have a co-writer, writing together is very inspiring.
Was it always meant to become a series?
R: While writing the stories for the first book, it appeared that some stories ended perfectly for a part 2. At that point the idea of a series was born. But the books can also be read separately.
What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?
R: I am writing next to my daily job. So I write in the evenings and in the weekends. I only set writing goals if there is a deadline for the publisher. Writing should be fun for me.
Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?
R: “Second Encounters” 20 new stories with the same characters.
How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?
R: The character names are very important, they all have to sound comfortable. Rene is my penname and in one of the stories I use my real name.
Where do your ideas come from?
R: From my own personal life and experiences and the people I meet along the way.
Is there a genre that you’ve been wanting to experiment with?
R: In Dutch I am writing detectives as well, not yet in English
What is the hardest part of writing for you?
R: I like humor in my books and stories, this is the hardest.
What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?
R: I would love to work with trailers, but I do not have any yet.
What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?
R: Finding the right publisher. That took me at least a year.
What’s the best thing about being an author?
R: The compliments of the readers. Writing is a lonely job, but as soon as the book is published you notice that so many readers enjoy your book. Positive reviews gives me wings.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
R: Hopefully I have written and published a couple of real bestsellers, in Dutch and in English by then.
Have you always liked to write?
R: Yes, since very young. But started with a serious book at the age of 44.
What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?
R: Never give up and do not copy other writers, stay close to yourself.
If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?
R: I am a freelance building engineer, so I would continue doing that.
Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?
R: It always hurts when someone does not like your book, but since now I did not have that many bad reviews. Reviews are the most important tool for selling a book. Readers do not realize the importancy of it. Without good sales there will not be published a next book.
What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?
R: When everything is ready, the waiting for the release date is not easy…
Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?
R: In book 3 a male writer meets a female editor at LAX Airport, they had never met before, but with their combined passion for books they get very close very fast.
She always wanted to try anal sex, but never found the right partner who would do it with tender love. This time she got lucky, after he bought a small vibe and cherry flavoured lube. You can imagine the fun they had.
Why did you choose to write in your genre? If you write in more than one, how do you balance them?
R: Sex and erotica are a big part of everybody’s life, although many people see it as a big secret they have to hide. I think it is much wiser to be open about it and in my case, write about it.
In Dutch I write detective with a lot of action, but also with very hot and passionate sex-scenes in it. No hard balance for me…
Where did your love of books come from?
R: Since young I read a lot of books, I love to be in my own small world in a great story.
Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
R: The books of Harry Potter are really good, with great humor as well.
Of all the characters you have created, which is your favourite and why?
R: Vanessa is by far my favourit. She is intelligent, has a beautiful character and loves to experience different new things in bed.
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
R: It gives me so much positive energy.
What is your writing Kryptonite?
R: Finding the right words in English, since English is not my native language it sometimes is very hard to find the correct words for a scene.
Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
R: I am not writing with readers standing next to me, so I am as original as I can be.
What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?
R: I share a lot of finished stories with other writers in my genre, that helps a lot. It inspires me and improves my English. Book 2 and 3 are written with a co-writer, she helps me with inspiration and improves my English.
If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?
R: “Grab every opportunity”.
What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview? How would you answer that question?
R: “Can I have a signed book of you?” So I know the interviewer is a huge fan. And of course I would give it.
Where can your fans find you and follow??
R: On facebook: Please join the Pure Pleasure Series-group, where I share a lot of free hot stories.
And the books are available at Avid-publishing.com and in the better bookshops.
Thank you for taking your time to do this interview ❤️
R: Thank you so much for asking me.
