What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?

Fawn Bailey is actually a pen name, but I also write under Isabella Starling. My books are dark romance, ranging from mafia to royals and everything in between, but always with some BDSM.

Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?

My newest series is dark royal romance. I was inspired by a TV show called Magnificent Century!

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?

I’ve always loved dark romance and it’s my favorite genre to read.

Can you tell me about your Series?

The Dazzling Court takes place in Luxuria, a country I imagined sitting between France and Italy. It has a lot of court intrigue, dark secrets and twists and turns, all set in wintertime in the gorgeous, luxurious winter castle.

Do you have a favorite book out of this series?

I’m only writing book 1 now but it’s definitely my favorite – though I’m mega excited for book 3 as well!

Was it always meant to become a series?

Yes! So much happens that I just couldn’t fit it into one book.

What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?

I’m not very consistent but I do try to hit at least 1000 words every day. I write in my bedroom! I have a working area here (pic attached)!

Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?

The first book of The Dazzling Court – Dark Castle!

How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?

I love coming up with character names, it’s one of my favorite parts about writing.

Is there a genre that you’ve been wanting to experiment with?

I have an interest in fantasy… Not sure if I will ever pursue it. I also love thrillers!

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Probably hitting the part of the book where I’m convinced everything sucks and getting past it, haha.

What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?

Love them and I have one for my series which will be revealed soon!

What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?

Hiting USA Today twice with some amazing author friends.

What’s the best thing about being an author?

The readers and being able to do what I LOVE.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully still writing dark romance and loving it.

Have you always liked to write?

Yep, since I learned how to do it!

What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Keep writing and reading and remember to do your research.

If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?

I have lots of interests but probably something to do with makeup, fashion or interior design.

Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?

I do! Good – I cry. Bad – I also cry. LOL. I respond to people who reach out to me!

What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?

 The readers’ response ❤

Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?

“You’re going to come on command for me, aren’t you, chérie?” I leaned down to whisper in her ear, and her sweet body shivered at the sound of the words. “You’re going to be such a fucking good girl for me. And you’re going to do exactly as I say.”

She moaned again, her body twisting under my cruel touch, so eager for more.

“Ah ah ah,” I reminded her. “You need to ask for permission first, chérie. I’m not just going to let you fucking have it. You have to work for it, my pretty girl.”

“Please,” she begged. “I need to come, I need to be yours, I need to have it. Let me…”

“Let you?” I repeated, a smile tugging on the corners of my lips as my fingers curled even deeper, eliciting moan after moan from her mouth. “Beg some more, chérie. Convince me this is what you need.”

“I need it,” she managed. “I need it, Olivier, I need to be your princess, your chérie, I need to be your slut, please, just let me, fucking let me, I’ll die for it… Die for you…”

I chuckled, a low grumble in my throat as I kissed her feverish forehead. “Come for me, chérie. I want to see you coming apart at the seams. Fucking do it, beautiful.”

Why did you choose to write in your genre? If you write in more than one, how do you balance them?

I just write what I know and love!

Where did your love of books come from?

My parents are both big readers, and so is most of my family.

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?

Jade West, K Webster, Kitty Thomas. I also recently read my first Ashley Jade book and adored it!

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favourite and why?

I love Rueben Thorn from the Rose & Thorn series, he’s just so twisted.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Depends on the scene, but it often feels like a weight is off my shoulders once I get a particularly emotional scene done…

What is your writing Kryptonite?

Gummy bears… I love eating them when I write LOL

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

I always want to be original, and I pride myself on it 🙂

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

Jade West is my bestie! I’ve admired her for years and I’m so grateful she’s my friend. She’s such an inspiration.

If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

 Trainwreck? 😛
