What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?

Author Krys Adams

Military Romance

Paranormal Romance

Contemporary Romance

Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?

For the Paranormal Books the idea of a Dragon Shifter society has always intrigued me, and then when I started brain storming “The Hall of the Dragonei King” came to life.

The Silent Ranks refers to the military spouse, so I wanted to write a series highlighting things that a military spouse goes through. Giving the world just a small glimpse of what it’s like to be married to someone who serves our country.

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?

My Aunt started giving me Romance novels at 18, and I was hooked from there.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

Everyday life for me has been research.

Can you tell me about your Series?

I have 2 different series a Dragon Shifter Paranormal Novella Series

and a Military Spouse series. The Paranormal series (The Hall of the Dragonei King series) is all about 3 sisters, and finding love in a world of Dragon Shifter royalty.  The other is a military Spouse series (The Silent Ranks series) which is based around the struggles of the military spouse.

Do you have a favorite book out of this series?

Where did you get the inspiration/idea for your series?

Everyday life, my life is chaos by the way lol

What kind of research did you do for this book?

Traveling and everyday life. I’ve been a military spouse for 14 years, so a lot of it comes naturally. Plus I myself have 2 sisters.

Was it always meant to become a series?

Yes for both

What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?

I’m a Mom of 3, my youngest being 2. My hubby is gone with either the military or his civilian job that works hand in hand with the military A LOT. So I normally write from 11pm-1am. I never set goals, because some days I only end up writing like 2 days a week. When life is chaos you just grab the time when you can.

Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?

 I actually have 3!

Patience (3rd book in the Silent Ranks series)

A baseball anthology short for my signing in Texas next year

New Hockey series book #1

How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?

The only name that has been really special to me is one of my characters in the Silent Ranks series. The characters name is James Harris, and he’s an Airman who meets one of my characters and marries her. James Harris was one of my husband’s best friends, he was killed while serving our great country in 2005. He was only 19, his life had only just begun. The joys of putting words on pages, mean you can create worlds. Now James lives on in the hearts of my readers, I’m writing his love story and giving him the life that he was never able to have.

Where do your ideas come from?

A lot come from dreams, which sound weird. Others just hit me like a truck at a hundred miles an hour out of the blue.

Is there a genre that you’ve been wanting to experiment with?

Not at the moment

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Time, plain and simple.

What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?

I love them! I’ve been talking about it, hopefully soon.

What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?

To publish any book, because I never thought it would ever happen

What’s the best thing about being an author?

Getting to see my books come to life in the eyes of my readers.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully living on the East Coast somewhere, taking care of the 2 youngest who will be 16 and 12, and the hubby retired from the Air Force Reserves. I hope to have at least 50 books out by then!

Have you always liked to write?

Absolutely! Story telling is in my blood, my Great Uncle spun Jack Tales for years. He went to festivals, and was even invited to the White House by President Ronald Reagan.

What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Just do it! Don’t look at all the things going against you, just put your thoughts down on paper.

If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?

I’d be a Mom and a wife.

Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?

Yes, and occasionally I respond. I realize not everyone likes the same things, so bad reviews don’t really bother me.

What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?

Editing! I hate it!!!

What are you working on now?

I currently have Patience (3rd book in the Silent Ranks series) pulled up.

Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?

Here’s a small piece from Patience, my readers will know who those two are!

 Dear Kamden,

Hi! My name is Maddy Oliver, I’m good friends with Lexie and Ace. Actually I’m employed by Lexie at her bakery here in Harmony. I just wanted to write you a note Thanking you for your service and the sacrifices that you make for our country every day. I didn’t really know much about the military until recently, and I see now that the military life is very hard. I cannot imagine being away from my family for years, or having to deploy to heaven knows where for long periods of time. You are a true hero to every American in our great nation. If you ever need anything please feel free to let me know.

Take care,

Why did you choose to write in your genre? If you write in more than one, how do you balance them?

I’m a huge Hopeless Romantic

Where did your love of books come from?

My Grandparents and Dad, we all love to read

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?

Helena Hunting, Harper Sloan, K. Webster. Anything they write is pure gold

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favourite and why?

Delilah and Lexie are my favorite! They are basically me and my best friend, their Yin and Yang relationship is amazing.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

My entire life is Exhausting, so by the end of the day I give it what I’ve got an crash. Maybe not exhausting, more like relaxing.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

My hubby AKA MSGT. Jason Adams, if he’s around my writing is toast. He’s my soul mate, and I get very little time with him.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

I listen to whoever happens to be talking in my head, my characters know the story. I just tell it for them.

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

K. Webster is one of my good friends, she is amazing. I call her my book Yoda. If I’ve got a question, she’s always there.  I’m also good friends with Elizabeth York, Kayla Ries, and K. Langston. All 3 so talented and knowledgeable ladies.

If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

The chaos and insanity of the military life when you have kids.

Where can your fans find you and follow??
