Interview with

What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?

AmBear Shellea. I write all kinds of twisted tales from PNR, Regency, YA/NA and my current Release will feature some good ole fashioned Revenge.

Coming in 2019 I will be releasing a line of Epic Fantasy Books.

Tell me about your newest release?

My newest Release, Fuckboy Exposed is a short I wrote in honor of all of us who have ever had the unfortunate life experience of tangling with a FUCKBOY and had our hearts broken.  The little taste of revenge we are all too grown up to dish out.

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?

I really can only tell you this, when the muses talk, you listen and write. I, personally, don’t read Romance, but I write it. My Rock Series, The Rock N Roll Paraphantasy Series, I wrote to deal with a dark time in my life. This series, 4 of the 6 published so far, is very dark, and only gets darker as it goes and the most twisted of this story isn’t even out yet.  This book is very adult and very intense, so I always caution readers before they purchase. I have had several readers tell me they had to stop reading it because they could not take the intensity, as I made them feel what the characters were feeling and I can promise you, they are put through Hell.

As for the other books I have written, they all hold a special place in heart, but they were  just books my muses hijacked me to write. I love it.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

Life! That was all the research I needed for my current release, Fuckboy Exposed. The other seven, I went to the internet.

Can you tell me about  your Series?

I currently have two in the works. The Rock n Roll Paraphantasy Series (PNR) and The Pedalstemlillies Series (Regency).  Now, unlike the Rock Series, this is just as twisted and pulls you in. Basically, Blaze, the character has lost her memory and must relearn her place in her kingdom. However, something is off as he head is leading her one way while her heart is leading her another. Not to mention, the forces she doesn’t see weaving a magical tapestry of deception and destruction.

Do you have a favorite book out of this series?

Of all the books I have written, that are published, Hardcore Captivity, RRP #3, is my favorite. (Although book #6, is my absolute favorite). Poor Jaxson is put through Hell and…Well, I don’t want to spoil anything should any of you want to give him a ride.

Was it always meant to become a series?

Yes, RRP and PL, I knew they would be serials when I was first put pen to paper. Now, as for my YA/NA novel, Sinners and Saints, that will have a second and third book because the fans demanded it. Everyone fell in love with Echo and Buchanan. ❤

What’s a typical working day like for you?

I work in logistics when I am not giving birth to new worlds and creating badass, yet lovable characters…Well, after I feed and love on the 30 pound ball of fur that currently runs my house.

When and where do you write?

Mostly, nights and weekends.  Many nights I have started before sunset and did not quit until after the sun rose.

Do you set a daily writing goal?

No. I know that some writers do, I usually just sit at my laptop and let the muses take over. Some days we are kicking ass, other days we are staring at a single paragraph wondering what the Hell is going on.

Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?

Aside from the series books, I have a fantasy book called Evrah and the Alchemist’s Secret that should release early 2019.  I can’t wait to unleash that on all of my readers.

How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?

In my opinion, they are just as important in fiction as they are in reality. If you write memorable characters, people will be using that name forever. You wouldn’t to hear people talking about your character by a name you really don’t like. As for Special Meanings, that I cannot answer without giving away things from my books.  I can tell you that names are not the only keys in my books, eye color and markings are too.

Where do your ideas come from?

They come from many places. Sometimes music, sometimes overheard conversation and more times than not, my twisted brain.

Is there a genre that you’ve been wanting to experiment with?

Yes, comedy. I mean, I think I am funny, but that doesn’t mean that I am. I have a book in the works that will features a sarcastic witch, Nixx, who just can’t seem to keep it together.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Time! Between a busy job, two grown kids(and their husbands) and the sweetest grandbabies you’ll ever meet, my life is pretty full. Oh, Baxter, my general in fur (cat) says not to forget him as he is the most important.

What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?

I love Book Trailers, I love them. I have one for each book I have published. If you would like to check put the trailer for the new release…I’ll just add in the link and make it easy.

What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?

Aside from raising two beautiful children, making the Amazon Best Seller’s list. It was something I cannot even put into words and excited doesn’t cover it.

What’s the best thing about being an author?

Meeting other readers. I am a big ole Nerd, and I love getting to meet others who are the same and watch their eyes light up when they talk about what they love.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Older and much crankier. Oh, that’s not what you meant?Honestly, I am not sure. I have made no plans to do anything other than what I am doing. We shall have to wait and see where this life boat carries me. Probably to some zombie infested island, but who knows?

Have you always liked to write?

Yes. Once I was introduced to Poe and Shakespeare in the sixth grade, I have been hooked and fascinated ever since.

What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Just write! It is really the only way to get where you want to go.

If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?

This is my chosen profession, though it does not pay my bills, I would still write.

Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?

Yes, I love reviews, even the bad ones. Every word of a review is like a small conversation about my work. Who knows, perhaps that person who gives a bad review just might have a good point or an idea of what I cam do to be a better writer.

What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?

The Synopsis. You would think that since I am the one who knows the story inside and out that this would be easy…sadly, it’s not.

What are you working on now?

The final edits for Sebastian’s Tune and Battling Vaire, the last two books in the Rock N Roll Paraphantasy Series. These last two books are real twisted. 🙂

Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?

Sebastian’s Tune book #5 In The Rock N Roll Paraphantasy Series

**Her wicked smile was like a poisonous flower, beautiful but deadly.

“Good. Let us begin”

He sucked in a breath at the sting upon his bare thigh, where she struck him. “First lesson, you will respond with, Mistress. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Mistress.” he answered eager to get the game going. **

Battling Vaire, Book # 6 in The Rock N Roll Paraphantasy Series

“She lives” Marrianna said relieved.

Anna sat there, in a daze, wondering what the Hell was going on. Today had turned into the day bat shit crazy wouldn’t end. One thing after another. Craziness seemed to be stalking them around every corner, Hell bent on their destruction, both physically and mentally.

And Yes, I put these characters through HELL! You’re going to thank me for it later. 🙂

Why did you choose to write in your genre? If you write in more than one, how do you balance them?

At first, the story just came to me and built from there. I did not really “choose”. Once I got a taste of adult Erotic Romance, I found, I liked it. However, six years later, I am venturing back (After my rock series is complete) Back into Epic Fantasy, a genre I fell in love with long ago.

Where did your love of books come from?

Sixth Grade. I had to read Edgar Allen Poe and William Shakespeare and I have been hooked ever since.

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?

Yes, my all time favorite author is Terry Goodkind. If anyone ever gets a chance to read anything he has written, don’t pass it up. The Sword of Truth Series is fantastic.

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?

Probably Jaxson. He’s has such a great heart and isn’t afraid, even knowing what it will cost him, to stand up for himself and what he believes in. You can find his sexy sweet ass in the Rock n Roll Paraphantasy Series.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Both. Once I am in the zone, I feel nothing but the words, but once I end that session…I am happy but very very exhausted. There have been times I have written for hours and did not eat, drink or even pee. It is almost like all of that is cut off until I resurface back into reality.

What is your writing Kryptonite?’

Guilt. Sometimes I feel like I am neglecting people because writing is a very solitary thing. No one can really help you with it…Unless you’re writing something as a group.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

Original! I want my readers, when they are finished with my books, to feel like they have been on a roller coaster of an adventure, being left with a thirst for more and fulfillment of adventure.

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

Hmm… This is a hard one. I have a lot of author friends in the Indie community, but I can tell you they help me when I read their work. It helps me to see where I might improve in my own writing skill. Sometimes, it’s writing style, sometimes in scene building and sometimes it’s even in the world their story sucks me into.

If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

Well, that didn’t go as planned!  You never know what each day will bring. Some days it’s wine and roses, some days it’s storm clouds and lightening and some days it starts with WTF? and ends with it too.

What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview? How would you answer that question?

Ya know, I have really never thought about it. I have been asked a lot of questions. Perhaps something weird and off the wall…Perhaps this is where the readers can lend a hand. What say you readers? Ask me something weird and off the wall.

Where can your fans find you and follow??

Here’s all the places I can be found, aside from writing and hiding out in bookstores or on play-dates with my grandchildren.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview! I appreciate you and your writing!

Thank you very much for the chat. I was very honored to get this time to spend with all of you. I truly hope to see all of you soon.
