What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?

Hello! My name is Kathy Dinisi and I write in Horror.

Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?

My newest release is The Caverns. It comes out March 23. I first thought of this story when I first went to visit caverns In Arizona 3 years ago. It was so creepy and fun,I had to write about it.

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?

I just love Horror books and movies.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

Besides actually visiting the location I had to do a lot of research on the road and creating the story.

Can you tell me about your Series?

I do have  series, Hell Bound. Its based on a young couple who takes a vacation and the apocalypse hits.

Do you have a favorite book out of this series?

I would have to say Till Death do us part. Book 3 in the series. It’s so touching.

Where did you get the inspiration/idea for your series?

I got it from my home town and what would I do in this situation.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

I researched the location in Arizona and the miles from the location to California.

Was it always meant to become a series?

Yes, but I didn’t want to keep going with the series after book 3. As of 2018 Hell Bound will continue.

What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?

It really depends. When I have a new release coming out, I dedicate all my time and effort on the release. After the release I start writing again. I usually write in my office.

Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?

I do, Hell Bound book 4. It should be released late 2018.

How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?

Umm, Some are very important to me. In the Hell Bound series I used family names. In my other books I just looked up names.

Where do your ideas come from?

Places I have visited or would like to visit.

Is there a genre that you’ve been wanting to experiment with?

Not really. I have a Young Adult series which is fun but I love Horror.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Trying to describe the characters feelings.

What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?

They are fun to use.

What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?

Amazon Best seller. I hope someday to be an international best seller.

What’s the best thing about being an author?

It’s so much fun. I enjoy scaring my readers and hearing all about it.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Finished with my Bachelor’s degree and maybe…just maybe one of my books made into a movie.

Have you always liked to write?

Nope, my grammar sucks. Thank god for my editor.

What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Do it for the fun of it not the money.

If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?

I would like to work in a hospital.

Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?

I do not respond to them. Not unless they are from my street team.

I usually try to learn from the bad reviews and try not to take them to heart. This is how authors grow.

What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?

Hearing from fans and how much they loved the book.

Why did you choose to write in your genre? If you write in more than one, how do you balance them?

Because I love Horror! I do write in science fiction but its not my favorite genre.

Where did your love of books come from?

I enjoy reading all kinds of books. I love disappearing from the world, even if its just for an hour.

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?

Not really, I love Stephen King,Joe hill.. man the list can go on.

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?

Sam and Mathew are my favorite. They are such a wonderful couple.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Energize me, it’s the release party’s that exhaust me .lol

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

Original, I want to be different.

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

I have plenty of authors who are friends. Some of them are good friends who tell me if my books suck or not. Lol

If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview? How would you answer that question?
