My Interview with Author Tessa Dawn!
How and when did you get started as a writer?
I started writing when I was about five-years-old and never stopped – at first, with pen and paper; later, with a typewriter and word-processor; and finally, using modern technology. It would be hard to pinpoint a definite beginning.
When did you first consider yourself an author?
I think I was around seventeen years-old when I first published a book of poetry. Soon after, I wrote greeting cards for Blue Mountain Arts (I already had a box full of novels I’d written for fun by then), so I would say… by age eighteen.
Did you have a hard time sharing your work with the public?
No. 😊 I’m a strong believer in the law of attraction. I think variety and diversity are great, and for every author’s imagining there is a “perfectly matched” reader wanting to share in that story, that energy. I trust an intelligent universe to line all that up, so I’m able to let go of the outcome.
What inspires you to write?
An imagination filled with stories…stories…stories…and a burning desire to tell them. 😊
If you could be one of your characters for a day, who would it be and why?
Selfishly, I would probably be Deanna Debois, just so I could spend an entire day with Nachari Silivasi (one of my favorite vampire protagonists).
What are you working on at the moment?
Axeviathon – Son of Dragons (book #2 in my Pantheon of Dragons Series).
By the way, my “dragons” are not the conventional type; rather than being shifters, they’re a cross between vampires and dragons (vampiric dragons, called the Dragyr – a creation from my crazy mind. 😊) They possess all the powers of traditional vampires, but they also wield lethal fire: depending on the color of the flames, they can destroy, heal, or grant immortality. In addition, they feed on more than blood – they require human essence and heat to reanimate their fire.
Can you give a little morsel of what you are working on?
(From Axeviathon – Son of Dragons)
The timeless, heavy sapphire stone hanging around his neck—the one that linked his soul to The Pantheon and his life to Lord Saphyrius—suddenly singed his flesh, leaving a trail of smoke in the lobby.
His inner dragon drew to immediate attention.
He angled his body toward the nice-looking teller and regarded her much more closely.
Her beautiful, dark, amber eyes, which matched the color of her hair almost perfectly, began to glow inside her irises, and then, just for an instant, her pupils turned deep dark blue.
Just like Axe’s stone.
The precious gem seared a scar into his flesh, and in that moment, he knew…
Oh yeah, he knew…
And, holy hell, the realization was stunning.
He was staring at his fated dragyra.
His beast began to snarl as he took a step in her direction—just what the hell was she doing in King’s Castle Credit Union?
What can we expect in the near future?
Not sure when this interview is going to post, but I’m releasing book #2 in my Dragons Realm Saga: Dragons Reign. (Release date: February 18th, 2018.)

MINI BIO: Tessa Dawn grew up in Colorado, where she developed a deep affinity for the Rocky Mountains. After graduating with a degree in psychology, she worked for several years in criminal justice and mental health before returning to get her master’s degree in nonprofit management.
Tessa began writing as a child and composed her first full-length novel at the age of eleven. By the time she graduated high-school, she had a banker’s box full of short-stories and novels. Since then, she has published works as diverse as poetry, greeting cards, workbooks for kids with autism, and academic curricula. Her Dark Fantasy/Gothic Romance novels represent her long-desired return to her creative-writing roots and her passionate flair for storytelling.
Fifteen books later, Tessa now has readers in over 100 countries, and her novels have reached #1 bestselling status, eighteen times. Her personal author-ranking has climbed to #2 in Horror and #11 in both Fantasy and Paranormal, placing her on the Amazon charts next to two of her favorite authors: Stephen King and Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Tessa currently splits her time between the Colorado suburbs and mountains, but she hopes to one day move to the country where she can own horses and what she considers “the most beautiful creature ever created” — a German shepherd.
