What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?

My Name is Jessi McPherson. This book is kind of an erotic thriller. I am working on a novella for an Anthology that is fairy tale based.

Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?

Actually the title came to me first and then it all fell into place. I wanted something that had a bit of real struggle. Everyone has demons but it’s how we deal with them. I like to put those struggles into my writing.

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?

I’ve always loved to write. I’ve written short stories and poem. Then I thought why not write about something I love, sex. So, I wrote a story that was nothing but sex. I lost it somewhere in one of my moves but that idea stuck with me. It is an easy way to express yourself.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

Not a lot, outside of everyday life. I work in a bar so I know most of the ins and outs. I’ve been a waitress, I love to cook and I love sex. When you write about things you know it makes it easier. I’ve traveled all around being an army brat so that helps with picking scenery.

Can you tell me about your Series?

Burdened Souls is book one and follows Josilyn Michaels. She has moved back home after being attacked by her husband. She litterly falls into the arms of Dillon Shade and everything changes for both of them. She has demons she is fighting and Dillon has a career and business that he doesn’t think she’ll understand. There is so much they have to overcome just to start a relationship.
Book 2 should be out by the end of the year. That’s my hope.

Do you have a favorite book out of this series?

Not yet but we will see.

Where did you get the inspiration/idea for your series?

I tie pieces of myself into my writing. The struggles Josilyn deals with are real even if they are altered slightly. I want people to see that. Yes the book has sex but there is more to it. There is a struggle in it about overcoming fear and demons.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

Was it always meant to become a series?
Yes. I always wanted to it be a series and maybe a couple stand alones.

What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?

I have a full time job, I manage a local sports bar and night club, so I write when ever I get a few hours to myself. On my days off I write for a few hours. I like to keep it casual.

Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?

I am actually working on three projects right now. A novella for a Fractured Fairy Tale anthology with twenty other authors. It’s going to be amazing. My book is entitled Red. I am doing an adaptation of Red riding hood. I am working on Book two in the Burdened Souls Series entitled Unburdened and a Fantasy supernatural book. I don’t have a title yet but it is almost finished.

How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?

I Like the names to pop. Occasionally I use pieces of my family and friends.

Where do your ideas come from?

My main philosophy in life is to find something everyday that inspires me. I get ideas all the time write them down. Some times they pan out sometimes they don’t but I have them.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

I suck at punctuation. It’s my downfall in most cases. I always second guess if something is suppose to go somewhere.

What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?

I love book trailers. I am looking into doing on for this book. Hopefully it will be done before the book comes out.
What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?
My children. Hands down. Writing is great but they are the best thing I could have created. They are the best and worst parts of me and that’s okay.

What’s the best thing about being an author?

I get to express myself and I know someone out there will read it and relate slightly to it. At least that’s my hope. I hope someone will read it and be like wow. I’ve been there.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I hope to have several books out, probably still running a bar but it will be my own.

Have you always liked to write?

I have loved to write since I was about nine or ten. I’ve written poems and short stories all my life.

What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Like Dori Says “Just keep Swimming” Don’t give up just because it isn’t going the way you thought. Stories evolve flow with it. There is nothing wrong with scrapping something and starting over. I’ve done it a lot.

If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?

What I am doing now. I love running this bar. I love my employees and customers.

What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?

Nothing really. I am pretty mellow.

What are you working on now?

My novella Red and book 2 Unburdened

Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?

Everyone has read about Little Red Riding Hood. Such a carefree, naïve girl who fell victim to the wolf and had to be saved by the huntsman. I’d like to set that story straight. It all began with girl, a curse and wolf.

Sabastian stood with his arms crossed glaring at Aron. The buzzing of her powers changed. She felt her powers shift slightly as though they knew everything was going to be okay. She felt a pull to be near him. “Cara, are you okay?” he asked holding a hand out to her. She took the cue, “yes Sabastian. You didn’t need to come looking for me. I was headed home?” “Home?” Aron asked releasing her but she felt his anger boiling. “Yes, home.” Sabastian said pulling her to him and kissing her head gently. Although she was sure it was for show she warmed at the sentiment. Just being near him set her blood on fire but in a good way.

Why did you choose to write in your genre? If you write in more than one, how do you balance them?

I write what I love to read. Sex is a part of life. You shouldn’t be ashamed of it. I am not. Ask any of my friends and they’ll tell you. I’ve very open about my life. My other genres still have aspects of it but I tone it down.

Where did your love of books come from?

My mother. She reads all the time.

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
