What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?

Hi! I’m Rob Wolinsky. I make comics! My genre is all over the place. I particularly enjoy sci-fi and horror.

Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?

My first comic AA Squad was something I had in my head for a long time. One day I finally took the leap and just did it. Ran a Kickstarter, raised about $4,000 and printed that sucker!

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?

I always really liked time travel. I love twists as well and the butterfly effect allows me to really play with that.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

So much. So so so much. I love nerds. I am a nerd. But sometimes nerds like to rip you apart. I made sure to cover all my bases on time travel before someone hit me with “um, actually, that’s not how that would work.”

What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?

I work in chunks. Some days I write pages and pages, sometimes none at all. It’s all mood based for me more or less.

Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?

Yes! My latest comic I’m working on is called SKOTUS! It is about he president of the United States being a serial killer. It’s based on Ted Cruz, the Zodiac Killer. Ted. If you’re reading this, please reach out. Thanks!

How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?

Very important. In AA Squad our main characters name is Liam Adam Bean. Liam A. Bean. Lima bean! Some names are fun like that, others are named after friends or important people.

Where do your ideas come from?

Drugs (kidding!). My brain works like a fortune cookie, inside is a one liner. Those are where most of my stories come from. I get an idea, write it down, expand on it later.

Is there a genre that you’ve been wanting to experiment with?

Horror! My upcoming comic SKOTUS is my first take on the genre. It’s unique for me as I am one of those people who hate being scared and won’t go see scary movies.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Finishing. I have about 10 half done scripts.

What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?

Why marrying my lovely wife of course! But besides that, probably using Kickstarter to create my first comic book. It’s rough and some days I still can’t believe I did it.

Have you always liked to write?

Half-half. I like expressing myself and writing makes that easier for me.

What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Bruh. Just do it! Don’t worry about whether or not you’ll succeed. Just. Do. It.

What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?

Marketing. As a one man operation it can be draining at times.

What are you working on now?

SKOTUS! Check out the Facebook page! Get me in touch with Ted Cruz. Someone. Please!

Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

It can do both sometimes. It bepends on my outlook at the time I suppose.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

Netflix! I’m very easily distracted.

If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

Scrambled Thoughts
