Success
comes at a price…but am I willing to give up my innocence?

All I wanted was for my acting career to take off, so my mom wouldn’t have to work two jobs anymore.
There is just one person getting in the way of me reaching my goals: My creepy, touchy-feely agent. I just want him to leave me alone, so we can both do our jobs. All I had to do was put up and shut up long enough to gain enough steam in my career, and leave him behind.
At the end of this story, author, C. Penticoff, shares her own personal #MeToo story.

Local Author Tells Her #MeToo Story

Local author, C. Penticoff is celebrating, what people are calling, “The MeToo Anniversary,” by releasing a book titled, “#MeToo: A Short Story.”

Silver Lake, Wa:

The #MeToo movement gave woman an opportunity to share their story, but it also did something even more important: it created a cultural shift in our society.
I want to celebrate this anniversary with a short story, which is relevant to the #MeToo movement,” says Penticoff.

During the #MeToo movement, we’ve heard the strong and roaring voices of women all over the country, sharing their stories of sexual harassment. During this, we learned how women are dealing with sexual harassment or assault on a daily basis, especially in the work place.

Penticoff says, “Honestly, I’ve been sexually assaulted a few times in my life, even once as a young child. But, I’ve been sexually harassed more times than I can even count. I’ve been sexually harassed at almost every job I’ve ever had. I’ve been told I’m too friendly and too nice to men—and that is supposedly why I’m sexually harassed. It is ridiculous to imply that anyone should have to alter their personality—especially positive traits– to avoid being harassed.

Penticoff’s story, MeToo, highlights a young woman’ named Maple, who is brand new in the entertainment industry. Maple faces sexual harassment by someone she is supposed to trust. Instead of using his position of power over her to help her succeed, he chooses to victimize her. Wanting her career to soar so her mother wouldn’t have to work two jobs anymore, she struggled with the decision to tell her mom, or to pretend like nothing happened.

What makes this story really special and unique is Penticoff sharing her own personal #MeToo story at the end.

I am putting myself out of my comfort zone here, but I feel it’s important for me to help propel this movement forward in any way that I can. I know I will face a few bad apples who will shame and blame me for this happening, but I want to show my children how to be strong and rise above the hatred in this world. Yes, I’m nervous to release this to the world. But, fear does not control me.”
