MY INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR RENE WEBB!

What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?
Rene Webb, and I write naughty adult romance.
Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?
My upcoming release Uncovering Lily, part of the MacKay International series, is about a college student who is kidnapped while vacationing in Paris and brought to a Hong Kong brothel. Xavier is the man who buys her for the evening, quickly realizing they have a connection, in more ways than one.
I had wanted to write a story that was darker and sexier than my previous novels. You’ll have to let me know if I succeed.

Can you tell me about your Series?
The MacKay International series follows the adventures of Lily and Xavier as they discover who had her kidnapped, why and thwart the person’s ultimate plan, all the while falling in love.
What kind of research did you do for this book?
Having never been to Hong Kong, or a brothel for that matter, I did do some research on the two. You should see my Google search history, lol

Was it always meant to become a series?
Yes. When I began writing Uncovering Lily, the last scene is the one I wrote first. I knew exactly how it would end, and planned on the series going forward.
Where do your ideas come from?
Everywhere. Life.

Is there a genre that you’ve been wanting to experiment with?
Yes, I have wanted to branch out into shifters and or the motorcycle club genres. Maybe I could combine the two!
What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?
I love book trailers. I have not completed one yet for Uncovering Lily, but I do have trailers for several of my other novels.

What’s the best thing about being an author?
Having people fall in love with the characters you’ve created, and enjoying getting lost in your stories.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Writing! With a large back catalogue of books, with one or two of them being adapted into films.

Have you always liked to write?
Yes, I began writing poetry at a young age. I didn’t switch into fiction until much later.
What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?
Write. Just write. You don’t need anything except a pen and paper or a computer. But just write. Write.

If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?
I probably would be working for a PR company that specializes in romance novels. If I couldn’t write books, I would want to somehow be involved in the industry.
What are you working on now?
I am working on the second novel in the MacKay International series, Claiming Lily. I’m very excited to continue Xavier and Lily’s adventure!

Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?
“Don’t worry you’re not getting rid of me.” I brush a gentle kiss across her lips, and as I pull away she fists my T-shirt and tugs me back. Kissing me.
This kiss was gentle and unhurried. We were simply passing the time, enjoying the taste and feel of one another. Discovering more about the other.
Like the way Lily moans every time, I graze her lips with my teeth.
Where did your love of books come from?
I have always loved books and reading. It probably stems from my parents reading to me as a child. There were always books around the house and stories before bed.

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
Some of my favorite romance authors include Laura Kaye, Kristen Ashley, Sierra Cartwright, Cherise Sinclair and Bianca Giovanni. I love the characters and stories they create.
Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?
How could I possibly choose between my babies? They each have a part of me within them, so I can’t possibly choose my favorite.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Getting into the flow of writing a good scene, or a character moment is an amazing high and totally energizing!
What is your writing Kryptonite?
Social media in all forms, but especially Facebook!
