MY INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR ANGELA K. PARKER!

What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?
My name is Angela K Parker. I write YA, NA, Adult, Contemporary Romance.
Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?
My first book, A Life No Less Than Perfect, just came to me one day. This particular book is special because it contains small elements of me.

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?
I’m a sucker for a great love story. So, naturally it’s what I desired to write about.
What kind of research did you do for this book?
I didn’t do much research for this book. Most of it came from experience.

Can you tell me about your Series?
When I began writing, I never meant for my second book to be a part of a series. The way the story flowed in the first book left even me wondering, what if the secondary characters had their own story. That’s how my Life & Love series was born. The series is about life, love, family, friendship and what happens when all of these things collide.
Do you have a favorite book out of this series?
I love all of my books equally but if I had to make a recommendation, I would say start from the beginning.

What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?
I work a day job in addition to writing. I don’t have a specific place. I write whenever the thoughts come to me. Most of the time I’m at home in my bedroom, where it’s quiet. I have a daily writing goal but I seldom stick to it.
Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?
I just released the first book in my new series, An Unexpected Kind (The Kind Series). I’m currently working on the second book but I don’t want to release a name too soon, just in case it changes.

How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?
I think long and hard about character names. I tend to associate certain names with personalities. So, I try to match the names with the character I have in my head.
What is the hardest part of writing for you?
Writing isn’t hard for me. It’s everything that comes with it. It takes a lot of effort, work, time, and money to publish a reader worthy novel.

What’s the best thing about being an author?
The best part of being an author for me is getting my stories out there and interacting with readers who appreciate and love what I do.
What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?
My advice would be to write about what you know and love. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do it. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Even when you feel like no one is listening, keep writing.

Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?
I read most of my reviews. I don’t mind a bad review if the reviewer explains their reasoning. I understand that not everyone likes the same style of writing.
Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
I have so many. My definite one clicks are Brittainy C Cherry, Corinne Michaels, Nicholas Sparks, Georgia Lynn Hunter, Brenda K Davies, Mary Ting, Randi Cooley Wilson, Elisa S Amore, Keary Taylor, Geneva Lee, Kaylee Ryan, Stevie J Cole, Amy Bartol, Dannika Dark, Corinne Michaels.

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favourite and why?
I would have to say Xander from Emerald Runs Deep is my favorite. He’s a sexy, commanding, take charge kind of guy; and beneath his arrogance he’s the most endearing guy. He’s hard not to like.
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
When I’m writing, I feel energized and full of adrenaline. I couldn’t do it otherwise.
