MY INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR RAVEN MOON🌞

What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?
Raven Moon. Paranormal Romance Thriller
Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?
I just started writing. The voices led me to where I am today.
How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?
I’ve always had a flare for the Paranormal, Magic and the Supernatural.

What kind of research did you do for this book?
Oh, you’re supposed to do research. I didn’t get that memo. LOL.
Can you tell me about your Series?
Rainelle Sterling is a naïve girl. She’s been away from home for 5 years living her dream in Nashville. When forced to come back home, she wants to celebrate her twin brother’s milestones and forget about her past. Tragedy strikes, and truths come out. Her survival hangs in the balance between her Destiny and the Supernatural.
Do you have a favorite book out of this series?
Yes, Destiny of the Witch. She is my baby.
Where did you get the inspiration/idea for your series?
I lost my dad unexpectedly in Oct. 2014. I started writing in a journal to heal the loss and in the mist of it all, Destiny of the Witch was born.

What kind of research did you do for this book?
None, I write what the voices tell me to write and go with the flow. Oh, the many trips to the Smokey Mountains over the years with my mom has helped some.
Was it always meant to become a series?
No, not in the beginning, but Rainelle had other plans.
What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?
Let’s see, I’m a full-time wife, mother and grandmother and momma to 2 baby Boer Goats. After my maid duties are done, everyone is fed and put to sleep, then and only then do I sit in the dark and quiet to write. I try to set daily goals but life most times has a different plan for me.

Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?
Yes, I have 2, Rainelle’s Story and Elemental Witch Rising. Truth be told, they both should have been wrote and published over a year ago, but life had other plans for me.
How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?
The name must match the character I envision. No special meanings.
Where do your ideas come from?
I don’t know, they are just there.
Is there a genre that you’ve been wanting to experiment with?
Yes, maybe just YA and Romance

What is the hardest part of writing for you?
Getting the time to sit down and write without having to stop.
What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?
I think they are great and help with the book. I do have one, but it needs some work.
What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?
Publishing Destiny of the Witch.

What’s the best thing about being an author?
Meeting new people.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully still on this side of the dirt.
Have you always liked to write?
No. Never dreamed of writing. Always hated it in school and reading too. Now I live for it.

What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?
Hold fast to your Dreams. You have a story that needs told, write it, take your time, don’t rush and most importantly, Never EVER give up. For the haters THAT will come, ignore them, they are NOT worth a second thought.
If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?
I would continue with my craftmaking.
Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?
Yes, I do. I take the bad with the good. I know many will not like my style of writing, many with criticize and then there is the grammar police, I will take what they have to say and let it help me become a better writer.

What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?
All of it. From start to finish.
What are you working on now?
Rainelle’s Story
Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?
Rainelle runs into her first love leaving her with heartache before leaving for Nashville to sing. A new love, betrayal, heartache and drama are to follow.

Why did you choose to write in your genre? If you write in more than one, how do you balance them?
It chose me.
Where did your love of books come from?
I don’t know. Age I suppose.
Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
Laurell K Hamilton is my fav with her Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series.

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favourite and why?
Rainelle. She is a bit naïve, whiney, needy but she learns to be strong and the heroin that she really is.
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
It depends on the scenes.
What is your writing Kryptonite?
Tea and music

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
Original, that is the only way I know how to be.
If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?
The Crazy ass bitch has lost her marbles.
