What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?

Roshandra AUTHOR R.M.Simone’ . I write Romance, Soul Mate stories, Tasteful Erotica and Tantra. I also write Goth, Vampire saga and Sci-Fiction. Additionally for fun, Fan Fiction.

Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?

I write FAN FICTION for fun and to relax. I began with a DISCUSSION about TWILIGHT Phenomenon and how FSOG came off that in Fan Fiction as MOTU (Master of the Universe). How this took the TWILIGHT CANON and two lead characters into this story line that E.L. James created. The discussion was meant to stimulate ideas of why TWILIGHT has created off it so many top selling books. What happened next though surprised me. I created my own two characters and set them in NYC and a photo shoot using the Fifty Shades theme. What turned out to be something between the two people meeting and the fact the discussion on Twilight and FSOG was party of the beginning exchange in their story. It rather quickly took off from there and a turn from that into something more. Book 1 of the trilogy is a modern Cinderella romance of ‘guy, Very Rich Prince Charming had a vision of ‘her’ coming into his life – and she had no idea of having such a ‘moment’ of a cosmic electrical connection instantly to him and therefore, she literally wanted to ‘run’ out of the photo shoot. He further follows up and insists she keeps the designer shoes she wore in the photo shoot. From there it takes the reader into the soul of the relationship and the intimacy of two people and chemistry that explodes. IT’S TANTRA.
SHADES OF LOVE trilogy and it has four arcs that add to the coming stages of the story line.

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?

A Romantic at heart.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

I do research on some of my books. In my Goth series or Vampire work and Science Fiction so it has accurate information. I also do historical research to set my characters in the right surroundings, art, architecture and clothing of the period.

Can you tell me about your Series?

GOTHIC GATES series is a modern Goth Romance and a classic NOIR back story. It is about an immortal that became so, due to a trauma he lives through in France. Alchemy was a way for a cardinal to help him focus this extraordinary man in a challenge for life and the by product was immortality. This he did not expect. The fact though, with his high intelligence he utilized the Goth theme and world in contemporary times to give him a ‘front’ for his business and darker hidden world. He also dealt with other very wealthy businessmen in the global cabal of good and evil. Dante was a chess player tipping the scales through the shadow world with a board group of immortal males. His seeing his beloved in Paris one day was part of the reconnecting to her. She was then part of an orchestrated way to ‘meet’ her at his Goth estate party and it was then the challenges of such a strong love, attraction and the fact he lived in two worlds. She lived only in this world and time. It becomes very complex and yet enlightening as the dance weaves time lines, history of Goth and travel and Soirees which is his business.

Do you have a favorite book out of this series?

Three books out of 7 in the series. Book 1 is a short story and it is the meeting. How they meet and the attraction. Book 2 is when she begins to Fall Into Love with him. A stand alone novel – Gothic Gates Venice and a past life they shared there. It is highly romantic and beautiful as it goes from their first official date into the complexity of the relationship and his heart. He’s an immortal and she does not even believe in past lives. Book 3 is Goth Christmas and it is so cheeky and fun. It is also a short story sharing of all three lead characters and how the Christmas holiday at Dante’s France Goth estate is part of introducing Samantha Devon and Deanna (her BFF) into his world and getting to know them and them him. It’s hilarious. Her wing girl protecting her BFF.

Where did you get the inspiration/idea for your series?

One of my dear fans, Jessica suggested I try my hand at a modern Goth love story. Gothic Gates was Mused by her.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

I seriously explored the Goth period and architecture and the locations where this was centered. Italy, France, Germany, England and the USA and the revelations of the writings of classic Noir interested me. I am still exploring more of this and unraveling many parts to it. Placing my lead male character, Dante’ in that world allows this story line a sense of depth of his soul and the environment he cloaks himself in and the relationships of the shadows of other immortals that are involved in the time current and from an existing past.

What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?

I used to write at cafes. I now write in my CLUB. An executive connect lounge with comfortable chairs and total silence.

Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?

Yes, two actualy. Black TIES and Guise’.

How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?

Yes. Often a name pops into my head. Sometimes the character informs me of a name. Sometimes I feel lead to find it. Example. In my vampire kismet saga, his name came instantly to mind. Edear…then his middle name and a secondary name he went by to hide himself – VALLEN and then his middle name as he was born in France and they take the name of a Saint as the day that relates to their birthday. His case is Le Toussaint. ALL SAINTS DAY he was born on. Now the LAST name in this BOOK V SAGA of his…surprised me greatly. ATHANASE’, which is French and interestingly it means IMMORTAL. So, his full name and born royal family mansion name is…EDEAR VALLEN Le TOUSSAINT ATHANASE’…
I did not plan that and this all FELL INTO PLACE. Same thing with the book cover which is a beautiful lavender blue Peony and the dress that his beloved wore at a masquerade when they met was another find. I wrote in the story it was a periwinkle blue with gold gown. Two weeks before I launched the books, the three novels I came across a vintage dress of the period of mid 1700’s Paris and it was exactly the color that I had in mind. So, for me, details like that is very meaningful and ‘telling’ me something about the story is deeply guided or intuitively aligned.

Where do your ideas come from?

A dream will come to me. A character will sometimes introduce themselves and begin showing me the story. Music inspires me and travel does too. When I was in Paris May 2016, I stayed at a boutique hotel which was an 1800 – year period chateau.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

It flows for me easily. What can be challenging is the PR work it takes or the promoting your beautiful works of love.

What do you think of book trailers? Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?

Yes, I do have book trailers. A friend in music aids me on these and a few I have done myself.

What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?

Raising my daughter by myself and getting her through three levels of very expensive education and private schools. She is now on her own and in her second VP job in NYC.

What’s the best thing about being an author?

The pleasure of writing. The joy of seeing where a story line takes me and my characters which I so love.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Within two years or less, a top NYC Best Selling Author.

Have you always liked to write?

Yes, all my life. Although in 2008, I became serious about writing then.

What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Keep at it.

If you didn’t like writing books, or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?

I have other businesses still. I do not work them full on. Design and feng shui, retreats for meditation at spiritual key locations and counseling and life path guidance.

Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?

Yes, I read them, respond to many and the bad ones…I e trolls Ignore. I have seen those show up then disappear.

What is your least favourite part of the writing / publishing process?

Edit and final proof scan read.

What are you working on now?

Beauty of a Man. A dark love story and a vampire.

Can you give us a few tasty morsels from your work-in-progress?

The Beauty that was His,
was beyond what I ever Dreamed of.
