MY INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR GENEVIEVE JACK

What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?

I’m Genevieve Jack and I write weird, witty, and wicked-hot paranormal romance and fantasy.

Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?

My most recent release is titled Wicked Seduction and is about a witch, who must band together with a vampire and an angel to defeat a demon curse. I can’t say what inspired Aria’s story– I’m not sure where my ideas come from exactly—but all of my stories involve empowered women and complex relationships.

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a fascination with the supernatural. There’s something magical about life, the idea that you can shove a seed into the dirt and it will grow into a plant or a tree. The moon… the tides… the idea that women can grow another person in their abdomen.  Life is weird and fascinating to me. Paranormal fiction fits how I see the world. 

What kind of research did you do for this book?

Wicked Seduction takes place in a dystopian future in what used to be Berlin, so I researched the city and incorporated several details.

  

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

The hardest part of writing for me is doing so bravely. No matter what an author does, eventually something they write won’t be received well by a reader. Perhaps the reader won’t like a new character or won’t agree with a choice a character makes or will become angry when a character dies. An author has to stay true to the story, even if it means a few readers won’t like it. It’s impossible to please every reader.
