MY INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR ELAINE BARRIS❤️
What’s your name and what genre would you consider your books to be?
I’m Elaine Barris, and I write seriously steamy paranormal romance. I mainly write vampires, but I’m be releasing a shifter book, Brick soon!
Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?
I guess I’ll tell you about Brick. I was invited to write in Ava K. Michaels’ world, A Wolf’s Hunger. The central theme in this series is that there is a Legendary Hunger that strikes a shifter when his mate is near. So, I used that as a background to Brick and Duke’s cross-country adventure to locate and destroy a book that was created by an evil organization, The Mankind Defense. It contains methods to kill shifters, and other secrets.
How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children’s books, etc.)?
I’ve always loved PNR, before I started writing, it’s all I read. I think it was natural for me to write about vampires.
Can you tell me about your Series?
I have two series out now: the Master For Tonight Duet, and Flames of Vampire Passion Series (some people refer to it as the “Zane Series”).
The duet is about Julian Montfort’s fight to be released from his Maker who turned him against his will basically to have him as her sex toy. But one night, he sees Kate walking across a darkened parking lot, and BAM! He has to have her. He talks him into being with her for just one night, and then wiping her memory, but things rarely go as planned…
The Flames of Vampire Passion series is about Zane Thornton. He becomes interested in London Beckley (pen name Lindy Beck) after he reads some of her stories. After finding out that she’ll be at a porn convention to sell her books, he goes there to get her. Book one is mainly about them getting together.
The second book, The Decrees has much more drama. Zane has been ordered to officiate The Decrees, an event that happens once every ten years. He holds court over vampires who have committed various wrongs, and judging them. It grows very violent, very quickly.
In book three, we find that London has been placed on a list to be murdered! After The Decrees, there should be no question as to how Zane would deal with any potential or real threat. But either ignoring all that, or thinking they could best him in battle, they attempted to murder London right in front of him!
Was someone trying to take vengeance on Zane for a sentence he’d dealt during The Decrees? If so, why wait years to attack? Could someone in his inner circle of trusted friends have been the culprit?
If they thought he was going to consider the threat brought to his door as anything other than a declaration of war, they were mistaken.
He was determined to return the fight… and win!
Do you have a favorite book out of this series?
Yes, Zane. I adore him and his foul mouth.
Was it always meant to become a series?
Yes. There will be 5 books in the Flames of Vampire Passion series.
Do you have a new book in the making and if so, what’s the name of your upcoming book?
Brick, A Wolf’s Hunger, It Can’t Be Stopped!
What’s the best thing about being an author?
Hearing from readers that they enjoyed my books. There’s nothing else like it.
Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?
Nobody is going to like all books. I’ve read books that I didn’t end up liking. As an author, you have to take the good lumps with the bad.
What is your writing Kryptonite?
Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
I try to be completely original in what I write and how I approach things. That being said, there’s nothing new under the sun.
